SI-DRIVE research paper honoured!

SI-DRIVE research paper hailed as best in category at major UN-supported conference on governance and sustainable development

A paper prepared by Brunel University presenting a preliminary analysis of data and desk research from the SI-DRIVE 2015 mapping, was cited as best in the category of on-going research from amongst over 300 competitors. The paper focuses on how and with what consequences social innovations are addressing issues of poverty reduction and sustainable development around the world, with special focus on governance and policy perspectives. This recognition enables an updated version of the paper based on more in-depth analysis to be included in the prestigious Government Information Quarterly Journal during 2017. The paper is available here.

The ICEGOV 2016 conference held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 1st to 3rd March 2016, is the top global conference of its type, and is organised by the United Nations University in Portugal with support from UNESCO in Paris. The major themes of the 2016 conference were transparent and accountable governance in the context of the UN’s new 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and developments towards knowledge societies. The Brunel paper pays specific attention to how social innovation can support the new Sustainable Development Goals and is one of a series of initiatives to ensure that social innovation is more widely recognized with the UN system as an indispensable tool in this context.
